Note: The book of Lulu’s previous adventures as recorded by Zelda del West can be found online if one is inclined to learn about the initiatory experiences that preceded the events referenced in this book. It’s not that we would necessarily recommend said book, but, it does exist out there in the wilds of the internet for anyone who is inclined to find it. Lulu and the Vampire Situation — (working title) Prologue- “This book is a joke,” proclaimed the very first reader of this text, and we, the authors, find this to be a very perceptive assessment. It absolutely is a joke. Whether or not subsequent readers find it to be funny, the intent is nevertheless blatant absurdity. Seriousness, when approaching topics like magic, alternate universes and time travel, is a misguided approach. It’s far too cumbersome to lend the necessary fluidity that magic prefers for optimal effect And since this is an instructional myth or manual or cautionary tale, the only proper tone is absurdity.
